Ella's Bucket List

Every once in awhile you hear a story and your heart melts a little.  That was the case when I heard about Ella’s Bucket List.

A few months ago my husband, Marty, read about Ella’s story.  See Ella is an amazing pup that was rescued from a shelter in 2017.  She was rescued and ended up with the RescuedOhio Family (a local animal rescue in Columbus Ohio).  They joyfully helped Ella deliver her puppies and find amazing forever homes for them.  And Ella’s foster Mom’s ended up adopting one of her puppies, Tormund.  Ella was so grateful!

However, her story became a little more complicated in October of 2017.  Ella was diagnosed with cancer.  And after a few surgeries and unforeseen challenges, it was determined that Ella should be allowed to live the rest of her days pain free and enjoying life!

So Ella’s foster Momma’s created a bucket list and on that list was having family photos taken.  That is where I come in!

I had the honor of capturing some amazing pictures of Ella and Tormund this past August.  And Ella’s foster Momma’s Brittnie and Kaitlin.

This story really melts my heart, because these individuals that volunteer their time to these animal rescues are such amazing people!.  They receive no compensation for taking these animals in to their homes and caring for their needs.  They provide love and training and food and health care.  The spend their time bonding with these animals and working hard to find them forever homes.  They are angels if you ask me.

You see, this is near and dear to my heart, because we lost our sweet Zoey (a Cocker Spaniel) four years ago to cancer.  So it was an honor to help Ella mark off family photos from her bucket list.  I am sure these images will be treasured for years to come.  I hope Ella and her family enjoyed them as much as I did taking them!

Clifton Gorge and Yellow Spring Adventures

My husband and I recently visited Clifton Gorge located in Greene county in Ohio.  We left work on Friday and headed from Columbus for a hiking adventure.  I am so glad we did it.  It so beautiful!  Even though it is still technically "winter", there was so much life to the park.  Lots of moss and a little bit of grass was peering through the leaves from the fall.

And the water, well it was so tranquil.  We hiked down the cliff and came across where there stood a paper mill , in the early 1900's.  It was amazing to think about how people use to mill paper from straw and used the water from the Little Miami River.  And this gorge includes limestone and dolomite, such a unique place!  And the water is just beautiful, as you can see in some of the pictures below.

As the sun began to set, we made our way back to the car and drove towards Yellow Springs to enjoy some dinner at Peach's Grill.

If you have never been to Yellow Springs, I highly suggest it!  There are so many amazing places to eat and shop!  I definitely suggest Peach's Grill.  They always have great brews on tap and their food is AMAZING!  I started off with the spicy hummus dip with the fried pita as an appetizer.  The hummus has a nice kick to it and the fried pita is a great accompaniment. My husband ordered their Fish and homemade chips, both were great!  The chips were so fresh! My main meal was a classic veggie burger with their house fries.  I was SO full afterward!

But we had one more stop to make before we headed back to Columbus, Young's Dairy.  If you have never made a trip to Young's you are missing OUT!  Their homemade ice creams are so rich and delicious!  Not only do they have amazing ice cream, but they also have SO many other activities for you and your family to experience; like a petting zoo and miniature golf!

I am so thankful we made the short trip out to enjoy this park and visit Yellow Springs for some great food and then ending our visit at Young's.  So thankful for nice weather and looking forward to spring and capturing more memories for all of you!

Spring is right around the corner!

The past few days have been amazing weather wise!  The warmer temperatures and the sunshine have made us Ohioans a happy bunch!  I have visited the park with my family and nephew a few times and my husband and I recently took a trip to Clifton Gorge and Yellow Springs (more to come on that).

But this image reminds me of spring.  The vibrant greens and the chance to wear a dress and walk outside with the little ones makes me excited for the upcoming season!  And it is a PERFECT time to have some family portraits taken!  I would love to talk to you about my packages and how much fun the experience can be!

This little family had a great time on a spring day just outside of Plain City.  We walked around and explored nature under a beautiful sunny sky!

Spring is in the air!  Let's schedule a family session soon!

Happy Valentine's Day!

Happy Valentine's Day!

It is such an amzingly warm and sunny day here in Columbus!  I am so excited to feel all of the love in the air today!  The thoughtful words of a card left by the coffee maker, the beautiful flowers on the table, the amazing dinners eaten together and the sweet looks exchanged as you snuggle together on the couch.

Love is such an amazing thing!  And I am SO lucky to have found someone over 10 years ago, through an online dating website!  Yes, my hubby and I met through an online dating service.  It was the best "connection" I ever made!  Not only is he handsome, but he is SO talented (he wears so many hats and does an amazing job doing all.the.things!).  He is also very caring!  He has such a BIG heart and always makes me feel special.  Like today, he bought me a sweet card and my FAVORITE donut (LOVE donuts).  And left them right where I would see them first thing this morning!  I am SO blessed!

Enough gushing about him though!  My wish on this Valentine's day is that you find the same kind of love we have for one another!

And if you have found that recently, I would LOVE to capture that LOVE on camera!  This season of your relationship is so important to document!  The "glow" of a recently engaged couple or "new love", well it is an amazing feeling.  And to capture those moments now, well they will be treasured for years to come!

And I am running a special right now!  If you book your wedding with me this month for your wedding in 2017 or 2018, you will receive a FREE engagement session!
